Sophomore Resume
Hi I am doing formal recruitment next year at my school, and I will be doing it as a sophomore. I am putting together a resume for one of the women who said she would write me a rec but I am not totally sure what I should put on it. I found this website:
http://www.austinpanhellenic.org/joi...ty-resume.html but it includes high school information, not college. should i still put my test scores on my resume, even if it is for my sophomore year? i just am not totally sure as to what kind of information alumnae will be looking for. also, is all that stuff about your parents and their occupations really important? it just seems superfluous, and kind of a waste. thanks so much! |

That said, I'd submit a resume that includes the information on the sample resume (heck, I've been asked for my SAT scores when applying for jobs, even though I took the SAT back in the Stone Age when it actually qualified as an IQ test) and add your college GPA and any college activities. |

Yes, include parental information. You never know when one of the collegians will go "gosh, her mom taught my SS class!" or whatever. It's called "networking" and it goes both ways.
|
If that's the reason, then why on earth would you put down that your mom is a housewife?
Should they also put any organizations their parents are in (Jaycees, Eastern Star etc) to network in that manner? |

i have never included parents information other than names, address(es) college(s) attended, greek affiliation(s).
If you want to list parental employment information on your resume, fine. if i was writing a rec. for you, i would not include that parental information other than what i listed above. i cannot recall any friends who are alums. of other sororities ever asking me to get that information for them(if i had referred a pnm to them for a rec.). |

You don't need to include what they do for a living. Just names, University and Greek affiliation if any. Heavens! We're just trying to make connections here.

what is an SEC school, and will that make a difference on what i include on my resume? |
Florida State isn't an SEC school. SEC is the SoutheastERN Conference - it includes UF but not FSU. SEC schools are noted for extremely competitive recruitments. FSU is also competitive but is not SEC.
University of Florida University of Georgia University of South Carolina University of Tennessee Vanderbilt University University of Mississippi Mississippi State University Louisiana State University University of Alabama Auburn University University of Arkansas University of Kentucky |
It's Southeastern Conference, not Southeast Conference.

When I write recs I also only include the parent information that is requested on the form. However, we have a section that asks whether the pnm would have difficulty meeting the financial obligation as well as whether they are likely to complete a degree program. In this economic climate, no one wants to pledge a woman who will have to discontinue her membership because of financial reasons. I do not think in this day and time that anyone gives a flying fig about what a parent does - just can the pnm afford the cost.
