Spring Forward 2011

Your public service announcement... don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour tonight.

Bah. My phone updates automatically so I don't know why this ended up being a problem.

I set my alarm for 9:00. When the phone went off, it was flashing "9:00" in the center of the screen but the phone clock in the corner of the screen said "10:00."

I missed church today. :( I'm listening to a sermon online instead. #BedsideBaptist

LOL. One year, when I was a kid, the weekend the clocks went forward happened to be Easter weekend. Normally we attended the 5pm vigil Mass on Saturday, but on Easter we went to the 9:15am Mass rather than sit through the REALLLLLLLY LOOOOOONG Easter Vigil Mass. Well, we all forgot that the clocks had gone forward, so we walked into the church just as the 9:15 Mass was letting out. OOOOOPS. The priest shot us a knowing look. We just stuck around for the 10:30 Mass.

I do not like "spring forward" weekend. I hate losing the hour of sleep. :(

I was worried about making the 8:15 Mass since elder son was altar boying today, but we were among the first there. Whew.

My dad is a minister. About 10 years ago he got a call on Sunday morning around 8:30 am from a church member asking if he was going to be there or if something had happened.

Confused, by dad told him, no, they had just gotten up and were getting ready - they would be there as always, why did he ask?

Church member says, "Well, it's just that it's 9:30, the service has started, and you aren't here."

Yep, it was spring forward, parents had totally spaced it. They threw on clothes, jumped in the car, raced to the church, and my dad ran down the aisle just in time to start his sermon. I think our worship leader sang every hymn and he knew trying to stall.

Parents never forgot to move that clock forward again. It was still better than the time he missed a wedding though.

On another note - we just got an exchange student from Japan. Trying to explain to him why we needed to set all the clocks forward was interesting.

Spring Forward feels great right now, given that I'm still alert and awake and it's nearly "midnight", but I know tomorrow when the alarm goes off, I'll be singing a different tune. One with a lot of four letter words in it.

Yeah, I hate this time change. It is so much easier to adjust to the fall back one. My body thought it was 4:30 am when the alarm went off this morning.

I've been awake since about 6:30 pm. I guess my body was trying to make sure I'd be awake this morning.

It's going to be a looooooooooong day.
