UGA fraternity info
My son will be attending UGA this fall and is interested in being Greek there. We are out of state and do not know anyone or anything about rush there. Is there a rush weekend of some sort over the summer in Athens? Any advice about recruitment at UGA or the frat life there would be appreciated!

I did a quick google search and found this: http://www.uga.edu/ifc/rush/Fall_index.html
It is LAST fall's fraternity recruitment information. Fall 2011 is not up yet. It looks interesting, check it out. |
thanks- but I still want more info on Greek spring/summer events or parties. I think it would be helpful to get to know these young men before that one week of recruitment this fall.

Contact the Greek life office. I am pretty sure most of the current actives at UGA won't use this site to promote their events.

I checked out a few chapter websites and (not surprisingly) they were mostly unhelpful - although it may still be early for summer rush schedules to be posted. Some websites had forms for interested men to fill out, and the IFC website has all of the Rush Chairmen's contact info. Your son can e-mail them to find out about summer rush.
Are you sure your son doesn't know anyone from high school that went to UGA? Have him double check, as well as ask his friends if they have any friends or family members at UGA. As I'm sure you understand, summer rush can be important to getting a bid. Also, check out this thread: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...hlight=Georgia |
I will echo what Gusteau has stated. HE needs to ask fraternity men that he knows at UGA about summer rush. If you know any men who are fraternity members, they may know something about fraternity chapters at UGA.
As an alumni fraternity member, I will tell you that YOUR SON needs to do the asking about rush. It looks better. Don't call fraternities frats, personally don't like it. (Flashback to brother-with-not-so fresh-breath yelling in my face - "don't call it a frat...") |
thanks! I will pass this info on to him. No one from our high school is or was there in years... not in greek life ever. I am clueless about it all- but he doesn't seem worried. I'm sure he will be fine. I appreciate the opinions.
