Prospective Alumna Initiate
Through tons of reading I have heard the term "Prospective Alumna Initiate" mentioned as well as being recommended to me. I was wondering if anyone out there has gone through this process and could explain it to me - I have already contacted the head of Panhellenic at my local university, but what should I expect to happen if there is a chapter that is interested in me? Would I have to go in and everyone look me over and vote on me? ;) Also, if you have gone through this process...what kind of activities are you involved in? I am really hoping to get initiated & would love to talk to some other women who have gone through this personally. Thanks and *hugs*!

Some threads for you...
Please read these threads in entirety, and then feel free to email me! You will find that there are others just like you, who are either alumnae initiates already or are going through it now, as we speak!

We just went over Alumnae Initiation at our last meeting. I know we use it to let women who are no longer in college to join the alumnae chapter. I know we are doing it for the first time soon to one of our actives mother who is veryinvolved in the chapter.

hey!
Me three!! There are several of us who are trying to become alumnae initiates. CutiePie 2000 was a step ahead of me - check out the links to read what's been discussed so far.

As an alumna initiate myself, I can say that you are sorta on the right track (and I still recommend that you read the messages Cutie Pie listed earlier). The decision process is not exactly the same as collegiate rush. You decide what groups interest you, contact that orgs national office and they hook you up with the local alumnae chapter. At that point you meet the chapter and basically decide (probably after a few meetings) whether the feeling is mutual to join that chapter and org. Your first step, though would be to get in contact with the organization's national/international office for that initial introduction.
Good luck! Fraternally, Sarah AOII '00 |
