Hey everybody! I am attending Mississippi Statein the fall and I plan on going through rush :), but I have a few questions. I'm from out of state so I don't know anyone that goes to MSU. I've heard how competitive rush is at schools like Ole Miss and Alabama and I was wondering how competitive it is at MSU? Do the majority of the girls get bids? How nice of a dress should I wear for Preference Day? Also, do I need to have a recommendation for each sorority on campus or just the ones I'm more interested in? Any advice would help! Thanks :)

1. Recruitment at State is competitive. The large majority of students at State are in state students, so it will seem as if everyone knows everybody else. Don't let that discourage you. I know plenty of women not from Mississippi in groups there. If you go through with an open mind, your chances of getting a bid are pretty good. All of the groups there have a quality sisterhood and can provide you with a wonderful greek life experience. You just have to give them a chance.
2. Preference night is pretty dressy. Not prom/fancy cocktail dressy, but nice dress, pretty heels, pearls dressy. Something along this line http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...D1%26spc%3D719. Also, panhellenic's website has a what to wear section. The pics are a little dated, but you get the general dressiness level idea. http://msupanhellenic.com/what-to-wear
3. Get recs for EVERY house. Two if you can find women to write them. You won't need more than two. You never know who you might fall in love with during recruitment, and you want to have all of your bases covered. Also, you might want to start finding women to write recs for you now, that way you can them to write them May/ early June. You want them in early so you avoid getting lost in the rush.
