Pre-Rush Event Ideas for a small Northeast Chapter
 

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting and I am the newly elected Recruitment Chair for my chapter of Phi Mu at a small liberal arts college in Northeast PA. We usually have 4-5 pre-rush events on campus during the spring in order to get our names out there before formal recruitment in the fall.

Our school has recently limited us to 2 events for the spring. We already had one which was a "meet and greet" where we had cupcakes, cookies, etc and PNMs got to meet and talk to the sisters.

I need some help coming up with our second and final pre-rush event. Because we can only have 2 I'm really hoping that this one will be a hit!

Does anyone have any creative fun ideas??

we are a relatively small school & greek life is not very big here
our pre-rush events happen on campus (no going off campus to do anything)

Why not use one of the "4-5" events that you usually use?

Sorry, I forgot to clarify:
I don't want to use them because they never had a great turnout so I was looking for something new that might draw more girls to our event

It would probably be helpful if I said what the events we've done in the past were:
meet and greet (which i mentioned above), game nights, barbecues, and ice cream socials

so if there's any way to make these events more exciting or there's any other ideas out there I'd really appreciate them :)

My piece of advice - don't have events!

Focus more on small activities and getting to know potential members with only 1-4 sisters/PNMs present. Use the +1 method - for every PNM at one of these small activities, have an equal number of sisters + 1 (i.e. if there are 2 PNMs attending, have 3 sisters there). The school and/or Panhellenic can't put a limit on how many times you invite a PNM to have coffee with you.

And visit Phiredup.com and get the book 'I Heart Recruitment'... it sounds like it was made for a chapter such as yours.
