Joyeaux Mardi Gras
Or, for my fellow Protestants, Happy Shrove Tuesday...eat lots of Pancakes!!
Who has their beads?:D:(:):D:(:):D:(:) |
In Detroit, with the high Polish population, it's best known as Paczki Day (pronounced poonch-key). Paczki are huge, heavy filled donuts. HUGE, HEAVY. Yummmm...
|
I bought a 1/2 dozen Paczki's on saturday for the 4 of us. As of this morning, they're gone.
Sigh.... no meat tomorrow, no more meat on fridays for 6 weeks. Now I gotta figure what I'm doing for Lent. |

I don't usually give anything up, because I have ZERO willpower. Instead, I tend to go out of my way to do something extra that I don't normally do. I'll volunteer more, donate more, etc.

So many of my friends have been 3.5 hours south enjoying Mardi Gras...or even better, in NO. So jealous. I love the balls, beads, and drunken tomfoolery.
|
I especially miss my New Orleans during Mardi Gras! A friend was sweet enough to bring me a king cake to share with my coworkers! YUM!
|
I bought a King Cake to take to work. It will be weird not doing anything for Lent.

Happy Fasnacht Day from Pennsylvania. It's a Dutchy thing.

Only one person at work knew what a King Cake was! So I didn't put the baby in it, someone would have choked on it. But everyone thought it was delicious!
|
I always find the baby, so I need to buy the cake so many times.
Happy Mardi Gras from me! |
