Wear letters.

Be super nice to sororities (but not creepy).

Members need to get involved in other activities on campus - preferably ones that are high profile or ones in which they'll meet lots of freshmen.

Hi,
I'm a freshman who recently joined a fraternity on campus and is looking for ways to advance the chapter. Back to back probations over the last 3 years left our numbers low and our on-campus recognition minimal. Today, if you go up to a non-greek, they are unlikely to have heard the name. It is not surprising for a Greek to not know where we are located.

A couple of the reasons we struggle...
1) Low numbers/low base to grow from
2) House is located off of fraternity row, so many students never discover us and instead begin hanging out at other houses from the first weekend on

How can we establish a reputation on campus and get our numbers back up?

Don't count on people to go to you. Instead, actively work to meet people on campus.

Think of it like this: Let’s pretend you’re going into first grade.. it’s your first day. I’m sure that your house wasn’t right next to the school (at least, the majority of student’s houses aren’t located that close). I’m pretty sure that when you went home after that first day, no one showed up at your house.. and you didn’t count on random people to show up at your doorstep looking to be your friend. But you DID find friends. You met them at school, talked to them, hung out with them, and eventually, you invited them to your house.

Look at this the exact same way.
