Theta Kite Question

When making a graphic for a Theta gift, does it matter what direction the kite is flying? The Kappa Key and Pi Phi Arrow are directional and the DST elephant is always supposed to be trunk-up

Obviously the kite should be flying skyward and not plummeting to the earth. But does it matter if the kite and string are on a positive slope (ie the polka-dot kite in upper right hand corner) or on a negative slope (eg the variegated kite in upper left hand corner)?

Gosh, to me it would depend on the direction the wind was blowing.

Sorry- couldn't resist. :p I've never read or heard anything about this. Will be curious to read what other Thetas post.

I dont think it really matters. If you look on our website, the kite badge at the top of the page, is pointed to the right.

The clip art kites that are available for download though all have the kites pointing to the left with the tails to the right.

I guess it depends on the graphic you are using and which way it looks best.

I don't think it matters either. There is nothing specified in the ritual about a direction for the kite.

Doesn't matter to me, and I've never heard of direction meaning anything. So I concur with my sisters. :)

crash but this thread is reminding me of Ghostbusters.

"Where does this kite go?"
"It goes up."

Sorry for the crash, but the positive/negative comment in the OP made me laugh WAY too hard for being in a public place :D. I'm in the process of crafting some Theta stuff for my (biological) sister, so this info was super useful! Thanks :)

Sorry, I am a math geek at heart My quilting buddies refer to half-square triangle's long side whereas I just say hypotenuse.

I was curious about this, so I perused the ritual book, and our constitution and bylaws, and I found nothing to the effect. I concur that it doesn't matter/depends on what looks best.

I've noticed that any time I doodle a kite, it's pointing straight up. :)
