I have a question about rushing?
I attended a college in the Spring of 09 where I became a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. They used to be local sorority, but were working towards installation. I soon after realized that I HATED the school so I left after I completed one semester. I guess I thought Greek Life would help me learn to love my college, but it didn't.
NOTE: I left before they became installed. I think I was initiated, but we were all considered new members so I'm not to sure if I was considered initiated. We were still a colony so all of us sisters were knew members. We were all learning everything at the same time. We didn't even have big or little sisters. This fall I am transferring to my dream school and was wondering if I could rush a different sorority in the fall? Or am I ineligible to rush? This summer will be two years since I received my bid. Thanks :) |

I don't know how ASA's installation process works, but if it's anything like mine, installation and initiation usually take place at the same time. Are you still in contact with the ladies of that chapter? I would ask them to check if you were added to the chapter roster. Either that or get 33girl to help you. She's our resident ASA. :) |
It was hard to know or understand anything when EVERYBODY is learning everything at the exact same time as you. We didn't really have anybody to ask any questions to except our LC who only came for about a week a month. It was pretty much a huge mess.
All I'm 100% sure of, was that they kept pushing the installation back but about a year later they become a full and recognized chapter. I'm actually not in contact with any of the ASA ladies, so there isn't really any way to find out, but I messaged 33girl :) Hopefully I get some sort of answers :) |
Did you get an ASA badge or just a pledge pin? I can't say 100% for sure, but I'd bet my bottom dollar if you were initiated, you'd know. I bet you went through some sort of a colony/pledging ceremony.

To make double sure for certain, you can always contact ASA headquarters and ask them. And if you were not initiated, then you are welcome to join another sorority. |

They should have given you a District-level team to help you and answer your questions. Sometimes I don't think National makes abundantly clear all of the resources that are available to a chapter/colony. |
We got this. :) This is also why, while I like our special names for things and appreciate their beauty and meaningfulness, it would be easier to just call them new member induction and initiation. :)
If she left school before they were installed (which she did) she's not initiated. |
that badge/pin is gorgeous!

The only person I ever saw wear it was our LC who was helping us get installed. |
