Rush Preparation
Hey, I have quick question for all of you Alabama alumni.
I’m a high school senior and will be attending the Capstone in the fall. Is there anything I should be doing now to get ready for rush? I have recs lined up for all of the chapters. I connected with girls attending Alabama when they were home for Christmas. Is there anything else I can or should be doing at this point on the calendar? Thank you in advance |
-Follow up on recs in the coming months
-Practice conversation skills -Keep your GPA up! -Look at your resume and consider adding to it if it seems bare (volunteering, extracurriculars) |

-This is a little ahead of time but...Do something you love this summer! Just stressing out over rush all summer will leave you with nothing meaningful to contribute to during conversations when they ask you what you did all summer, and saying the usual, "I went shopping, I went to the beach" definitely won't hurt you at all, but it certainly won't help you stand out. However if you happen to do something spontaneous or different over the break, it can be a good conversation starter or at least give a better insight into your personality and interests and could make you a memorable PNM (because hey, all girls love shopping and going to the beach). -It couldn't hurt to start planning what to wear, but keep in mind that things are geared for colder weather right now and all that. But it can't hurt to start online window shopping just for the hell of it. -Really, the biggest preparation before rush is doing all the activities you've been doing, and getting those recs, and you seem to be well on your way! Right now it's January, so don't stress too much! It'll be an exciting process, have fun now, right before, rush, and after! |
Plan on attending Panhellenic Preview Weekend.

I am currently taking public speaking class so that may help with the “conversation skills” My current GPA is 3.9 and when I graduate it should be a 3.93. I know many others will have a 4.0 or higher. I can’t change this at this point. Oh well My resume is fairly full Cheerleading, sports, coaching, SGA, volunteer work and fund raising. I plan on trying out for the Alabama cheer squad. I know it will be very difficult to make the squad but if I don’t try I’ll never know. |

Websites like Lulus.com and ASOS.com have tons of cute dresses and tops already on sale. I've already began looking too.
|
I'll second Lulus! I had never ordered from them before, but a few of my friends are already in sororities and said they got some of theirs there. I got my pref dress from there. I just got the next size up from my original size, and it actually fits like a glove! If the dress ends up being too big, just get it tailored. Rush starts Thursday for me with an info night!!

If you're going ASOS order very early because I've definitely had packages get lost/take way too long. They've always been extremely helpful and have gotten me my shipment eventually, but it's not a good place to order from on a tight schedule.

My daughter orders a lot of stuff from ASOS too. They are in the UK so it not only takes time but I also get an international exchange charge from my bank, on top of the costs from ASOS.. just something to be aware of. They have some super cute stuff and she gets amazing deals on stuff on clearance, even with the extra charge.

ASOS has fantastic deals plus they're running a free shipping to the US deal too. You can occasionally find cute stuff and good deals at ZARA.com too.
