Purdue

Hi, I'm from Indiana and have read about how difficult rush at IU can be. But I was wondering if anyone has any insight on what it's like at Purdue. I know they do recruitment in the Fall and have basically the same number of sororities, maybe three less or so? I was just wondering how they do it (like IU has 19-14-8-3 parties, what does purdue do?), if recs are a necessity like at IU, and if it is as difficult as IU. I've tried doing some research but couldn't find much, so if anyone could help that would be awesome!! :)

You can find some things on here about Illinois. Purdue's recruitment will be pretty similar to that - a lot of chapters, fairly large chapters, fairly large new member classes, no pre-determined limit to what quota will be. References will be helpful but probably not absolutely mandatory. The parties will follow a similar drop every day, but maybe not exactly the same. I'm pretty sure RFM is used there.

IU shouldn't be used for comparison to ANY other campus. It is definitely its own animal.

Make sure your first semester grades are good.

I know a few women who have rushed at Purdue. I think it's one of those schools where you really just need to keep an open mind, and, like Illinois, a chapter there can be "bottom tier", get one great pledge class, and suddenly be at the top.

Hello indiana, I am a Purdue grad. It has been MANY years since I went through Rush. I had recs and was invited to "pre-recruitment" events. Not sure if they still do this. Recs would be helpful. Our party schedule was 15-10-5-2. When I was there we had "bed" rush like Bloomington Jr College. We were required to live in the house. I believe this is no longer the case. Rush at Purdue is not nearly as cut-throat as IU. It is very competitive. Good luck to you. Boiler Up!
