http://www.ajc.com/news/r-b-singer-teena-788408.html
CNN and other media were reporting Sunday night that singer Teena Marie had died. The cable television network reported on its website that Marie's manager Mike Gardner confirmed the death of Marie, 54. The AJC has not independently confirmed the news. But earlier Sunday night, Philadelphia radio station WDAS posted a short announcement of her death on its website and on its broadcast streamed over the Internet. The radio station cited no source, but said details would be forthcoming. Marie was scheduled to play the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on New Year’s Day. |

^^^^I was so confused!
Anyway, this is unfortunate. It's even more so because her daughter apparently found her. Her daughter's birthday was yesterday too. :( |
If I was talking to my sister, I would ask her, she knew Teena better than I did, loved this women and her voice. Very nice lady, I pray for her family and her 19 yo daughter.

JUST saw this on CNN. RIP Teena

i thought i was dreaming when i heard it on the news this morning, then i asked myself WHY would i dream something like that? anyway...
Teena Marie was an amazing artist, gave you 100% in concerts, and never stopped creating all while inspiring others. from Motown to No Limit Records she didn't let anyone label her. I just hope some of these young artists coming up understand her work ethic, universal appeal, and quality musicianship are some reasons why she achieved such longevity in the industry. I remember seeing her at the Taste of Chicago (maybe 5 years ago?) and she completely turned the concert out. I still can't tell you who else was on stage. All that mattered is that TEENA MARIE did her thang. There will NEVER be another like her. Lady T you will be sorely missed. |
