The Ultimate Party

What would you consider to be the ultimate party? What are the main factors in your decisions on whether or not to attend?

My fraternity's been having a few medium-sized parties, but people have been wanting to ramp it up a few notches.

Usually we plan according to this:
* A good "mix" of people (not just one or two groups but invite more different ones)
* Good band and/or DJ, play different styles of music
* Good theme/decorations/gadgets /dresscode
* Not too warm or cold (some people seem to think that party=A/C on full... no thanks)
* And a few area's that are more quiet to sit down and chat or catch your breath
* Well stocked bar but be sure to card people
* Sober sisters/First aid person present/people in charge stay sober

It does depend on how many people you expext to host. We usually host 600 people and have a larger location, but for a smaller location, nix the band and don't overdecorate

One time I was at a dance party and we all started 'competing' with our sickest (read: lamest) dance moves. Think 'the lawnmower', 'the shopping cart', etc. It was the most fun party I've ever been to because everyone forgot about appearing cool and just had a great time. So if I may suggest "awesome awkward dance moves" theme/competition? You could also couple it with your theme to make it even better.
