 Just wondering, how did PIKE get its nickname?

		I would have thought that their nickname would be PIKA http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Am I missing something? BTW I am just a hs student, so perhaps that is the reason why I don't know? Thank u!

 Hey bubbles! At my school we always called them PIKA. I never heard anyone say PIKE until I came to this board. They refered to themselves as PIKA too. Maybe it's a regional thing, who knows! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

 I'd have to agree with the above about the nickname explanation. I did want to say the PIKES at my school had a clever way to recruit guys, and that was by wearing shirts that say TURN PIKE.... very clever!!!

 PIKE = Pi Kappa Alpha
	I think it just the same with TKE = Tekes or Dekes (Delta Kappa Epsilon). |

 PIKE is just a general nickname, but I have also heard of people calling us Pikas and Pi Kapps (although that is generally associated with Pi Kappa Phi). From what I understand, the term "Pike" actually started from people calling us Pikas, and over time the pronounciation (Pike-Ah)was just shortened to "Pike".
	The "Turn Pike" slogan is actually something that our International Headquarters uses for a lot of Rush type materials, and many chapters pick up on it. Hope this answers your questions. |

 Thanks guys!  http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

 Well at my campus they just call us pikes. I believe its because when you say "Pi Kappa Alpha" you say "Pike". Also like Alpha Chi Rho. They are called "Crows"

 Here in Texas the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha are referred to as Pikes or Pi-K-A's, if you think about it the "pi" part sort of runs into the "kappa" part, making the sound "pike"....its an abbreviation using the first 3 letters Pi K (e)
	I guess every frat has their own regional nuances...here the "delts" are brothers of delta tau delta and the "deltas" are the sisters of delta sigma theta. However, at another school i visited, it was switched. |

 They're just Pikes here...thanks for the explanation, that's cool...I definitely never knew what it stood for.
