What's Going on with the Editing Buttons????

So, I redid the Colonies/Expansions Thread because the editing button disappeared on the original thread. Today, I go to do some updates, and the editing button has disappeared on the new thread.

Does anybody know what's going on?

Based on my observations, it seems that the ability to edit is now time-limited. The option goes away after a set number of hours, though I'm not sure how long the window for editing is.

Ooohh that happens on another board I frequent, and it bugs the heck out of me because if I made a mistake, it's there forever and I feel like a loser lol.

When did this change?

agzg 12-07-2010 10:56 AM

But it reduces the need for QFP, I suppose.

I'd rather have QFP and be able to maintain our long running threads...

I first noticed it a few weeks ago.

I don't know about that. I went back and looked over my recent posts. The "edit window" seems to be 24 hours, so that anything older than 24 hours can't be edited. But as we all know, the most QFP-worthy posts tend to be edited or deleted within a few hours at most.

It's annoying when we have to discover these things and aren't told about them. Unless there's a John post somewhere I don't know about...

It has been quite a while now. My big recruitment thread that includes every chapter of every NPC ever can't be edited and is therefore worthless. I am not too happy about that.

I'm very disappointed .. your NPC recruitment thread has been a huge source of information. Can we petition for the edit button to come back? or at least come back for some threads? I'm the keeper of the Every Alpha Xi Delta Chapter ever thread and I'm disappointed that I won't be able to update that list :-(

I discovered it yesterday or so when I tried to go back to the "Greeks in Your Family thread and update my original post to include my cousin-in-law. It kept telling me I was one character short and couldnt edit/post. Despite attempts to type a period or just reword it to include more characters, I got the same error message each time.

It changed when the board was moved to a new server. Another board I belong to uses the same software...you can edit for an hour after you post, and then it's closed.

Probably the Supermoderator (John) can change it. He may not be aware that it has changed. Couldn't hurt to ask!

Post editing config has been updated. Editing time has been set back to unlimited. Sorry for any inconvenience that the shorter edit time limit has caused.
