Developing interest
I have a question for any of the sisters who successfully friendly ventured a chapter. I currently belong to an online chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, but I am interesting in fving a land chapter. (I live in an area with very few chapters.) How did you develop interest for the organization in your areas, and how did you find potential members?

Hi, allionna.
I e-mailed college students in my community. I looked at student organization websites, and I e-mailed the leaders of the organizations. I just told them about BSP and my desire to start a chapter for young women. I guess you could say that this was sort of like spamming them or "cold calling," but I was really respectful. I only had one person addressed in each e-mail message, and I never sent repeat messages. This got the attention of a few ladies, and the rest came from word of mouth. We also got some attention with fliers in community areas like the local library, the skating rink, etc. Contact your local chamber of commerce or other community group and see if there is a way to advertise widely in your community. Good luck! |
You can also call the Membership department with local zip codes and they can send you a list of MAL sisters in the area. You might be able to recruit and get help from them!
Good luck! |
