Convention 2011

Closing in on 6 months until convention but HQ hasn't posted any more details on the website. Does anybody know when there will be more info posted? I'm ready to start making plans.

They never post too many details other than save the date until about April (March if we're lucky) before convention. It's going to be July 6-10 and the hotel is the Westin Peachtree Plaza. I wouldn't try to reserve a hotel room yet though, because eventually, they will post a group rate....

Wednesday evening is the welcome banquet, and Sunday is travel day home. Thurs, Fri and Saturday are usually the full days of activities with some free time scattered in.

This will be my 4th! Woo!

I'd really like to go, and I will actually be in the US at that time, but I just don't see squeezing one more thing into that trip home. I guess my first convention will have to wait a couple more years.

I'm planning on attending .. can't wait to see sisters again. Amanda .. have you heard anything yet about what the "group tours" are going to be ? There are Braves games at home the 1th thru the 7th.

I havent heard anything. However...if the big whigs are reading this they REALLY ought to do a Stone Mountain Lazer Show as an option for the sisterhood event. The only downside is that it has to be dark, and so I dont know if they would be comfortable with that since it would be late. It sure would be fun though.....

There's sooo much to do here! I'm excited to see what kinds of events they plan.

The new baby panda will be on display at the zoo! The updated Coke museum and Aquarium are both fun attractions that are right next to each other. You could always take a Panhellenic visit to the ADPi HQ.

Having attended school in Auburn, I made many a trip to Atlanta. In fact, our chapter's sisterhood retreat was there for my first 3 years of college. I think my favorite was out trip to Stone Mountain for the laser show. Atlanta is such a wonderful cirty, especially in the summer!

I would love to attend the convention this year... I just graduated in August, and always took classes full time in the summers.

Does anyone know about convention/participation fees? (besides the hotel, travel, etc of course)

amanda6035 12-13-2010 12:22 AM

I've been to the last 3 in which the registration for the full package was $500-$525, and will probably be about that much this time. They do have "a la carte" for alumnae to choose specific events if you want. If you've never been to a convention, I strongly recommend that you get the full package.

AUAZD2001 01-24-2011 05:14 AM

Is there a room block for the convention? I'm ready to make reservations, but the rates seem pretty high to me.

amanda6035 01-31-2011 12:30 AM

Atlanta alumnae got a sneak peak of info this weekend. I wanted to let you all know that YES, you can start reserving rooms. The rate is $149 a night. http://www.sheratonatlantahotel.com/

Sounds like the format is going to be changed up a bit this year to make the dates work better for more people to be as involved as they can. For reservation purposes, the welcome banquet is actually going to be on Thursday, not Wednesday. Wednesday is going to be the educational sessions that used to be weaved throughout the whole weekend. We're going to be able to make convention package reservations hopefully no later than March 1st, but possibly earlier than that. As soon as I hear more, I'll let you all know.

I think I'm going to try to make it to convention after all! I've never been, so I'm very interested to see what it's all about. Do I understand from the above that the convention is being held at the Sheraton, or is that speculation?

Yes .. here's the link to the fraternity's web page with current convention announcements.

I would have loved to go. I was already saving and plans changed. The weekend before convention I'll be having my church wedding.
