Traveling Consultants--how many?
I was curious about this but I don't have time to look it up.
I know that many GLOs have them but we all tend to call them something different. Leadership Consultant, Traveling Consultant, etc. How many does your GLO have? |
I believe Psi U only has one currently, and we actually didn't have any for at least a few years before he was hired.
|
Theta Phi has 2 each year and each chapter gets a TEC (Traveling Educational Consultant) every 2 years.
|
We have 18 this year. We call them "TLCs" Traveling Leadership Consultants. I think this year might be the most we have had. When I was a collegian we'd only have 10-12 per year. In my experience, most chapters (not sure about all) get a visit at least once a year, usually during recruitment time, unless there's something else going on or its a very new chapter.

We call them Regional Consultants (RCs).
We have 5. One for each of our 4 regions and one assigned exclusively to our colonies and new chapters (you're considered a new chapter for year after you'e installed). I'm pretty sure most chapters get a visit every year. Some get more depending on what's going on. Ex: a chapter that has had sanctions placed on them for a policy violation is going to be a high priority and get more visits. Our colonies and new chapters get a lot of visits because their RC deals with a smaller number of groups. |
This year Kappa has seven Leadership Consultants, which is pretty standard for us. Every chapter gets at least one visit that lasts a few days to a week. Some chapters will have the same LC visit twice if there are some things they need help with and it's a good fit.
This year Kappa also has four Chapter Consultants, who are just like LCs but are assigned to only one or two chapters. They typically live near the chapter they are assigned to and assist often throughout the year. This is usually reserved for chapters that need special assistance (like our newest chapter at Northeastern). |
I believe Alpha Delta Pi has seven. I read a blog one of the LCs. I started reading her blog months before she announced she was going to be one. So It was very interesting to see how the process works/her getting prepared for it.

Alpha Phi calls them Educational Leadership Consultants or ELC's. We currently have 11 for the 2010-2011 year.
|
Yep, we have ELC's as well. Ours is coming to visit soon. There are 10 total.
|
Tri Delta calls them Field Consultants. I think usually there is around seven. Newer colonies have stationary field consultants that are there most of the year to help with everything. For the past 4 years I've been at my chapter we've had one in the spring and then usually around recruitment. This year thought we didn't get one in the spring and our FC came in October (wayy after recruitment). I guess that means we're doing good.

Kappa Delta calls them Chapter Development Consultants or CDCs. We have 7 this year. They visit chapters to help out with extension, chapter operations, recruitment and leadership development.
|
We call them Chapter Consultants. Back when I was a collegian, we called them Chapter Leadership Consultants (CLC). There are 9 of them. My chapter was small, but a high-need chapter, so we always had a few visits (3-4) a year.
|
Delta Gamma also calls them Chapter Development Consultants, but years ago, they were Field Consultants!
We currently have 9. |
