Preparing for Rush
Hello everyone!
I just finished applying to colleges, and a couple of them have really big Greek programs. Now, being in a sorority is not the end-all be-all of my college experience (I am applying to six schools, four of them don't even have Greek life) but if I do wind up at a college with sororities, it is something that I'd really like to be a part of. Not because of popularity or the TV show Greek but because I really like the idea of having a second family. I'm drama-free, I have good grades, I am nice, polite and respectful. I am passionate about community service, and I'm not just saying that. I just have two questions: 1. What are the best ways to prepare for rush? Granted, I am not rushing until next fall, but I figured that I would start this thread now; the more advice I get between now and August 2011 the better. 2. When sororities say that they look at your GPA, do they mean your high school GPA or your college GPA? Thanks all! |
Welcome! As far as I know, which GPA they look at depends on when recruitment occurs at your school. I'd imagine at schools with fall formal, they would likely be referring to high school GPA. I know at my college (we have deferred recruitment in January) we look at both college and (I believe) high school GPA. Either way, it's always a good idea to keep your grades as high as possible, regardless of whether or not you're planning on going Greek! Look around GC though, there are TONS of threads about preparing for recruitment (try the "General Advice" and "Rush - What to NOT do or say" threads that are stickies in the Sorority Recruitment section to start). Good luck!
