Class rings
As a college senior, I'm getting ready (gasp) to graduate. I'd like to buy a class ring, but I naturally want to purchase a ring that has a 'side' for my sorority.
Has anyone else bought a class ring that has Greek sides? |
Hey Not sure if you have heard of them but Jostens specializes in school rings, and I believe they do greek lettering on their rings. I remeber them mentioning something about it last semester at school. I believe the site is :
Jostens actually I just checked they do them check under their ring options under encrusting symbols Hope all this helps DGPhoney~ |
I got a black onyx stone w/ my letters in gold on it. I actually didn't get it till 3 years after I graduated because the ones they had my senior year were large and very fugly.

my college ring has my letters engraved in gold on top of the stone. it is so pretty and unique. i can't tell you how many people wish they had done it. and it was free!
i think my ring is balfour. |
I didn't get a college ring. But, my dad's Georgia Tech ring has a pale blue stone in the center with his fraternity's letters underneath. You can clearly see the SAE letters in gold peeking out from under the stone. It looks very nice. :)

My school's class ring is very distinctive - each class customizes the top and sides, but the basic pattern is the same. So the only place to put Greek letters is engraved on the inside with your name. (I chose not to.)
There is also a dinner ring that ladies can buy, with the old school seal on the top. On one side is engraved your class year. On the other side, you can choose to have your sorority letters or just "MIT". I did put my letters on that one, but I hardly ever wear it. |
You can also get a bracelet with your school information and greek information on it - I like it because you can add info on graduate degrees later on. I got one in the late '80s and it was from Jostens.

We sell Artcarved class rings and I know they have college/university rings. I'm not sure, however, if they have greek letters or even symbols. I'm afraid to say it, but it might be a rare find :( But check out their website at artcarved.com

When it came time to buy my class ring, I was royally p***ed off at my school (they were threatening to withhold my diploma over literally one cent that they said I owed them. To this day I swear that I did not owe them that one cent but I finally gave up and paid up. Anyhoo...) What I asked for instead was a gold signet ring with the Delta Zeta crest on it. I love it and still wear it several years later.

I still wear my college ring on a chain around my neck (my finger can't fit it anymore :( ). I used my birthstone (ruby) with my major on one side (EE) and year on the other side (90) and my Greek letters (DST) in gold across the stone. I believe we used Josten's for our rings.
