On egg shells
Hello Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.,
I've been lurking for a few months and decided to join today in hopes of getting some feedback. I'm a SisterFriend, 30 years old, and I have for a long time had an interest in joining the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I have very close friends who are members, but out of respect for them, I don't bring this subject up a lot. I have on one occasion mentioned my interest in a discussion about community service. Then recently I asked a different friend who lives closer to me, if she would let me know when her chapter had events that aspirants can attend. I guess my question is, would you consider this sufficient? During my research I've encountered the word "Discretion" more times then I can count. We have great friendships and I don't want to put them in an awkward position. I don't want to disrespect them in anyway by asking or saying the wrong thing so I've purposely said little to nothing. I volunteer for many things in the community through my job, church, or the schools my children attend. I don't want them to think that I don't have a genuine interest because I don't ask them questions. Especially since the first time I mentioned it was during a conversation about community service. I'm hoping they didn't think "Oh it's just something else for her to do." Thank you in advance for your feedback. |
Hello, ASouthernBelle! We're always happy to greet another sisterfriend. :) And you're right, ... DISCRETION is a must when considering joining MY sorority, however, the answers you seek from a PUBLIC message board creates an insecurity that does NOT coincide with the whole "discretion" thingy, does it?
I advise you to get to know members of that chapter, mingle, network and make sure that my sorors notice YOU. Good luck to you. |
Duly noted. :-)
Thank you!! |
