Favorite/best costumes?

What are your favorite costumes that you've ever worn/seen for Halloween?

1986 - Minnie Mouse at a church youth group dance. I actually sewed the skirt myself. A boy had asked me out during that dance, but my parents later said no. Tragic for an almost-15 year old. Funny thing is that my mom had gone to high school with the boy's dad, and 22 years later, I see the boy/guy at my sister's house at my nephew's birthday party, because his son and my nephew are best friends. Small freaking world!!

1988 - California Grape. My friends and I wore green/purple garbage bags, white sunglasses and white gloves, and dark tights, and went trick-or-treating in one of my friend's neighborhoods. They didn't care that we were 16/17 because at Christmas, we always came around and sang carols.

2000 or 2001?? - Mary Kathrine Gallagher aka "Superstar". I wore my high school uniform plaid skirt, a white button-down shirt with a peter pan color, a sweater vest that i had sewed a crest onto, knee socks, headband and dark-rimmed glasses. I was still pretty flexible back then and would do the "Superstah" stance and go into a split. I remember dancing with "Bill Clinton" half the night. My girl friends went as Rollergirl (short shorts, roller skates with knee sox, pigtails...imagining walking down the street to the bar from the parking lot with her!!!), Jennifer Lopez in that green Versace dress (she bought the actual fabric and had the dress custom made), and two Boston "Big Dig" construction workers.

We might be going to a costume party this year, but I am not good at costumes. I don't want to be a slutty nurse/cop/teacher/maid. We'll see what I can think of...

Favorite one of mine was I was a christmas present when I was about 11. My mom cut holes in a big box for my head and arms, wrapped it in pretty christmas paper, and I wore a giant bow on my head.

Similarily, last year my brother went as "My d*ck in a box," ala the SNL skit. He wore a suit and taped/pinned a box wrapped in birthday paper over his pants fly. Hi-Larious.

My daughter was the cutest kangaroo ever last year. This year, she wanted to be a skeleton. Not my first choice for her, but I found a costume at Wallyworld, so she's happy.

Waldo (Where's Waldo)...and one year I went as a Delta Chi to their Reaper's Ball. This was back when they had a disproportionate amount of country boys and I dressed accordingly...which turned out to be a huge success as ironically some of them didn't wear costumes. And we were dressed exactly alike.

I was going to be Max from Where the Wild Things are, but this would mean sewing my own costume, and I'm lazy. So I'm going to be Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.

This would also be easiest for me, since I wear glasses, have darker hair, am short and sarcastic, and also a sometimes-writer. I'm just not sure if she's different enough from me for me to be recognized that I am being her.

I went as Belle (disney) when I was about 8, including a (mom-made) yellow dress
and I went as Jasmine a few years later, including turqoise hareempants and top, and a long black wig. My mom is really good at that sort of thing and my nieces still wear the clothes she made (over 15 years ago).

I was at a bar for Halloween back in 2004 and remember this costume as clear as day. I still have no idea how he rigged this.

Some guy was dressed in board shorts and a shower cap. He had a thing sitting on his shoulders so that it went higher than his head, and there was a circular rod at the top. He put a shower curtain around that rod. There was also a shower head coming up from his back and was right above his head, with a string attached. And of course, when he pulled the string, some water would spray out.

I thought it was the best costume ever, and still do.

I was a Magic 8 Ball as a last resort one time to a bar, wearing black and having 2 pieces of posterboard on my front and back. The one on my back was a white circle with an 8 on it, and the one on my front was a blue triangle with "Reply hazy, try again later" in white letters. I thought it was a good idea to pull together at the last minute. Until drunk strangers would come up to me and shake me.

I have seen some pretty awesome costumes and the best ones are at sports bars. 2 of them stick out (pun intended).

1. A man with a skin tight, glow in the dark, glitter outfit. That was interesting. He looked like an alien.
2. A man butt naked wrapped in clear tape. Safe sex, wrap it up.

I don't wear glasses and I wear heels almost daily, so it's different for me...but I am expecting to get a lot of, "What are you?"s...don't care, too lazy to do anything else. I'm positive I have a pair of converses buried in my closet, and from there I need bootcut jeans, a cardigan, and some plaid-y shirt...I have faux glasses from last year's costume. Boom, done.

I have watched every episode of 30 Rock and repeat phrases from the show often enough that it won't be hard to get into character. I am trying to get my SO to wear a suit and be Jack since all we do at parties is make fun of each other and the people that happen into our line of sight, so we're really in character every day. He says a suit is too much trouble.

I'm really excited for my Sookie Stackhouse costume this year, because I'm a big fan of wearing clothes I already own for halloween.
However, my other favorite costume was Goldilocks a few years ago!

A few years ago I went as a feather duster. Black fifities-style dress, and glued gray boas onto it. It worked really well, considering using it again but I'd have to remake and find another dress.

Appparently people were tracking my movements throughout the night as I shed feathers everywhere I went.

Best costume ever when I was in 3rd grade I was a TY Beanie Baby. Specifically the Princess Diana bear. My mom made my costume out of footie pjs, added a hood, stenciled on the rose and she used mittens which we tucked into my sleeves for the "paws" and something for ears I'm sure. then she made a big TY heart tag out of cardboard and painted it with the poem inside and everything. She's pretty crafty and she was so proud of it.

^^^ Let's not forget Spider-man.

Because Pooh Bear and fighting crime go hand in hand.

I forgot I had a Beanie Baby costume, too...for a 90's mixer since that's when they were so big. I bought a cheap child's duck costume with a duck face on the hood and wore the hood and gloves with a Ty tag around my neck.
