Things we could go without.....

Hey ladies. This one is for AKA members only....
Name those things that you are so tired of hearing GDIs ask/say to you..

EX.
1. When are you all going to take another line?

2. What does Skee-Wee mean?

2. Do all AKA's have to be light-skinned?

These are examples, but I want to hear from you all some of the random questions or statements you have been asked!!!

All I can say to you all with inquiring minds is go to the website!! AKA1908.com. If you cant find it there, we cant tell you.

FINALLY!!! A NEW TOPIC IN MY BELOVED FORUM!!! Hmmmm, ... let's see ...

How 'bout when I walk into a room with my AKA t-shirt on, and some girl is literally staring me down as if she is trying to make eye contact with me. Once she has finally built up the nerve to greet me, the first thing out of her mouth is, "So ... you're an AKA?" My response: "Uh, ... what gave it away? Is it the brightly colored, enormously large capital letters across my chest that read A, K and A?????" I can only hope this is not the approach one takes if she is considering aspiring for MY sorority.

I'm just sayin' ... (Thank you for this topic.) :D

The ultimate...

When one of your classmates asks: "Can you get me into AKA?"

LikeASista 10-18-2010 12:50 AM

Believe it or not, I had some dizzy girl ask me, "I heard ya'll bow down to a female god ... Do ya'll worship a goddess in yall's sorority?" I mean, ... Was she SERIOUS????? I'm amazed at some of the dumb stuff people let come out of their mouths.

Needless to say, she is NOT a member of my sorority. ;)

I HATE when someone sees me with a t-shirt or spots my keychain and asks me "Are you an AKA?" No, sweetie. I'm just rocking all this stuff to make people ask me THAT question.

Another one: "How can I pledge?" O_o Ummm... yeah. I'll get back to you on that one...

LMAO!!! My point EXACTLY!! I don't know what it is about my sorority that causes women to lose all sense of poise and appropriateness when they're trying to express interest. ~tsk, tsk~

making me SMH in disgust...

How about a GDI seeing my AKA bookbag and then asking "which sorority is better (AKA or DST)", and as if that wasn't enough she continued with "which one do you think I should join"?

After a significant blank stare, I would've finally managed the words, "Definitely Delta, sweetie ... Delta for you all the way ..." LMAO!! :p

(Tip-toeing away before my Delta sorors come after me ... :D)

ROFL

Soror you are hilarious! :D

I told old girl "I will be nice to you and advise you not to approach another individual from either org with that question because if you don't know, why should we..." I also warned her that other individuals may not be so nice in their response(s)

When people post foolishness like "I want to be an AKA" or have User names synonymous with AKA, like "prettygirl" or "iluvepnkandgrn".

blackcat1990 07-15-2011 03:45 AM

LMAO!!!!

Little32 08-01-2011 07:02 PM

All these women who tell me that they could have been on an AKA line at any time, if they wanted. Really? o_O

Women who can not support the programs but claim to be so interested in AKA.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I think I've heard that one, too, soror.

*EDIT*

And one other thing: Non-members trying to tell other NON-members how to become members of my sorority. That urks me to no end.

I'm new to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. , but I've had girls come to me expressing interest in AKA AND DST... which is funny... and interesting

A Facebook message from someone I haven't heard from in ages, and didn't even take the care to ask me how I've been, or even call me by my name ...

HER: Hey ... pretty profile pic ... have yall had a line yet?

ME: [blank stare] I'm fine, thanks for asking. ~smerk~ And yes we have, and will continue to do so.

HER: Is it too late for me? I'm still interested.

ME: Then I suggest you start getting to know some very active members of my sorority.

HER: Awwwww, I hate I missed it!

ME: Dear, it's not like a bus that you catch, ... it's a process.
