Worst Case of Claustrophobia Coming to an End
 

I searched and didn't see a thread about the miners in Chile. While initial reports were predicting a rescue that could last until Christmas, it appears that their days of claustrophobia are coming to and end.

Praying that their rescue over the next few days goes smoothly and they are returned to full health soon.

I also hope that these men are well compenstated from the crappy mine company (numerous citations for saftey issues) as well as benefit handsomely from book/movie deals. May they never have to work again.

Amen! I certainly hope that works out in their favor! In addition, I cant imagine how hard it has been on their families as well.

Wow. Thank God the hospitals are waiting for them. I hope they also have counseling options.

First miner arrives!!!! :D Got me all teary eyed and stuff.

Did I hear correctly that this is the first time in history that people have been trapped in a mine for so long and gotten out alive? Praise God.

15 minutes per miner and 32 miners left. I don't know if I can stay awake for all of them.

Got me teary too. I was thinking about when my brother had his tonsils out and I had to stay at my aunt's house. I was 4. I was at my aunt's house for weeks and when my parents picked me up I was laughing and crying at the same time. As an adult, I asked my mom why I was at my aunt's house for so long for my brother's tonsillectomy. She informed me it was a total of 3 nights. When I was 4, I swore it was a lot longer than that.

I wish I could stay up to watch more, but I need to sleep...

Just got teary watching my Texas Rangers *finally* win a playoff series, and switched over to see the first miner out. Waterworks at my house right now.

They have 8 of the miners out now!!
Someone on UK tv this morning mentioned "I wonder if all the miners wives will be giving birth nine months from now".

I'm really impressed with how seemingly healthy and energetic many of them are to this point. And how in the hell did they shave?

They sent razors to them and they already had lights.

Eleven up now! Did anyone else get a claustrophobic feeling when thinking about this--like you were under there too?

It seems the Chilean goverment has thought this out very well.
The miners get physical checks right away and then have to go to a hospital for physical and psychological observation for 2 days. And they have psychologists on standby for the next months.. Never have people been underground this long and came out alive, that had to have such an impact on them.

I stayed up last night to watch the first one come out, and they're up to 12 now!

Yes and they have spent millions of dollars since August(?) preparing the hospitals and the rescue attempt itself.

This is awesomeness. I cried the most when the miner was rescued and the FIRST thing he did was get on his knees and prayed. It makes me teary eyed just typing about it. He was also the prayer leader. CNN was talking about the role of faith in health, etc. Amen to that.
