Excel vs Quicken

I'm the house treasurer and trying to figure out whether it is better to use Excel or Quicken to keep track of the houses finances. Any opinions?

Whatever you're comfortable with. If you're good at Quicken, and it's easy to teach the next year's treasurer, do that. If you're good at Excel, and you can teach the next year's treasurer, do that. If you're good at both, well someone else can answer because I have no experience with Quicken.

If you're going to have to set something up so incredibly complex that you'll never be able to teach the next person how to do it, do something else or simplify your dues/finances.

Our treasurers have used both and it's the general consensus that Quicken is just much better.

You can do it in Excel, but there's a lot of unnecessary manual work and several places to make mistakes. By using a specific tool like Quicken, there's no room for mistakes to happen. It also automates a lot of stuff.

Sure, you should learn how to use it, but once you get it, it's just so much better.

Eh. It depends what you need to do with it honestly. Quickbooks is far more powerful, but on the same token it's not cheap.
