Quiz: Missing Letter...

Of the 24 letters in the Standard Greek Alphabet, only *one* is not used in the names of any member of the NIC, NPC or NPHC.

Name it.

Of the remaining 23 letters, only one is not used in the name of any member of the NIC or NPHC, but is found in the name of *one* member of the NPC.

Name it.

Eta?

IrishLake 09-28-2010 08:01 AM

I was thinking Eta as well, or maybe Nu.

The second one is Omicron I think?

dukemama 09-28-2010 08:01 AM

I agree with the above. Eta for the first one, Xi for the 2nd one.

You're forgetting AOPi!

Omicron. AOPi

And duh, brain fart, I forgot about Sigma Nu. So I think the first answer is Eta.

It happens. It's early. A good strong cup o' joe should help. :)

Xi is not #2. Theta Xi would be NIC. And by the way, I wondered why we needed to know about The Taxis when I was in school.

Mu maybe? NPC has Phi Mu, but I can't think of any NIC.

Like DubaiSis said, there's Theta Xi in the NIC.

Phi Mu Delta is in the NIC.

I agree that the answer to the first question is Eta.

The answer to the second question is Omicron.

dukemama 09-28-2010 09:44 AM

Well, apparently I need some coffee this morning too because I neglected to read the end of the 2nd clue (*one* member of the NPC). I believe Omicron is correct, and my apologies to IrishLake! *slinks off to kitchen* :o

Eta and Omicron?

There are SOOOOO many NIC fraternities that I feel justified in not knowing them all, especially when some only have 9 chapters! I think my campus had a very respectable 25 or so, but that's miles from the total number. I went to wikipedia and I was very surprised to see the note that Kappa Sigma and Phi Delta Theta are no longer NIC fraternities. Are they part of any conference?

They left the NIC about 8 years ago now. When they left the NIC, Kappa Sig, Phi Delt, Phi Sigma Kappa and maybe a few other fraternities (DKE?) formed the Fraternity Leadership Association as an alternative, but I think it has since dissolved. As far as I know, Kappa Sig and Phi Delt are not part of any inter/national conference or council at this point.

The NIC has a history of fraternities leaving, coming back, leaving, coming back, an so on.

On my campus, the 4-H house is a full member of the college panhellenic council (they had a house and everything), and their nickname is the Etas.
