Sad news.

Our advisor passed away last week. It was devastating to our sorority. He was an active part of everything that went on in our sorority. Not only was he our advisor, but he was one of the best professors on campus. He loved all of us very much, and also kept us out of trouble (as locals often come across) because he was a lawyer.
So, here it is. Michael Laird, 55 years old and completely healthy, advisor of Alpha Sigma, and business law professor at University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, passed away last Thursday, due to a bacteria he contracted while eating raw oysters at Mardi Gras. He dies within 4 days of eating the oysters. Still living from his family are his wife, and two children (only 15 and 17 years old)! Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

prdlocal, I'm so sorry. I hope that Mr Laird's two families - his wife & kids family and sorority family - can be of comfort to each other. I'll be thinking of you.

I was very sorry to hear about Dr. Laird as well, many of my friends had him for Bus-Law. I didn't know he was the Alpha Sigma advisor...I'm doubly sorry for your loss.

New news!!! Alpha Sigma (my sorority) has a new advisor -- Melissa Paestella, and she is such a sweetheart! She's the Greek Advisor's wife! Woohoo! We are also still applying Michael Laird for advisor of the year. I know he's still smiling down at all of his girls!
