The Divine Nine

Good evening...night everyone. lol. I have some questions for you all tonight. I am a 24 year old african american female interested in possibly going greek. The organization of the most classiest ladies will not be named, however my dilemma is im 24 ive been out of school for a while... technically im still considered a freshman, and i was over looking the application and requirements and i saw they did background checks.... now the only thing im worried about is having my credit pulled. Im a single mom and i do have some debt. Also my community service isnt looking to great either. I work full time and will be going bck to school very soon. I plan of fixing my credit, volunteering, and reading everything i can on this organization before I start trying to meet with some ladies on campus. I want to approach them at my best, and with the up most respect. do you think i have a chance? I will be older, and will the fact that im just now getting myself to meet their high standards possibly not get me an invitation?

I don't see you as having a dilemma so don't create one where there isn't. I personally don't know of any situation where someone wasn't extended membership due to bad credit (doesn't mean it can't happen though). As far as community service, it sounds like you know what to do and please consider that if you don't have time now for giving back, you won't have time if you become a member. The fact that you are 24 may not be a big deal to the members so don't make it one; however, if it bothers you, wait until after you graduate and pursue membership in an alumnae chapter. All members are expected to end up there anyway. Membership is a lifetime committment. Good Luck.
