help! i dont know what i did wrong
Recruitment for my school started on Thursday. I got a call back on Friday from the council telling me that I had not gotten any invites back to any of the parties, and I'm not sure why. I thought that I had clicked with all of the girls in the four sororities that I talked to very well. I even found a girl who was supposed to be in a pageant that I was supposed to be in and we had a very intense conversation about that.
I was just wondering if maybe I did talk too much? I tried to keep a conversation going so that it wasn't awkward. I also tried getting to know the girls, I asked them questions as well because I wanted to know who they were. I was never really involved in high school, but I really wanted to go through recruitment to give back to my community with women who have the same passions as I do. I am just so confused ): I am going through recruitment next year but if there is anything that maybe I did that wasn't right I'd love to know! Thank you. |
None of us can tell you because we dont know what the membership selection process is for the sororities on your campus. But the first thing that comes to mind when all 4 drop you after the first day is that you're grades were not up to standards.
|
That could be possible. Our sororities require you to have at least a 2.5 GPA, and I have a 2.8. Also, I just started school, but we are required to have at least 2 organizations on campus as well.
|
The 2.5 might have been the minimum in order to go through recruitment, but the groups usually have their own requirement for members.
As for the 2 other activities, is that a campus requirement or a greek life requirement? Either way, if you aren't involved, that's gonna hurt you. |
Greek life requirement. I am actually trying to get involved more, especially volunteering locally because going greek is something I'm very passionate about. I definitely want to be more prepared.

Well, I think you just answered your own question.
|
All I'm hearing is "I don't know why I got dropped even though I did not meet the minimum requirements to join a sorority. Also my GPA is not at the minimum but low enough to be a concern."
I'm going to go with those being your reasons. We're not going to give you an 'out' here that makes it not your fault. Join other orgs, get your GPA up and see about going through recruitment again later if it still interests you. |
When Greek Life stipulates requirements, you can bet that those are used as criteria when selecting members.
Obviously no one on here knows why you were released, but you can be relatively sure that if you did not fulfill the requirements and you GPA was low, those factored in to the decision. |
If someone rushes as a pre-freshman, I don't see how they could be involved in 2 other orgs right away, unless it's something like band or an athletic team that starts practice before school starts.
We really need more/better information from the original post. I also question if these are NPC groups - I've never heard of a Greek life office making such a stipulation for rush (the being involved in other orgs thing). It's usually the individual groups that do so. |
