Founder's Day

Hey Sorors,

It's that time again.

Almost seventy-nine years ago, our illustrious sisterhood was formed under the most adverse of circumstances. Not only were our great founders students at a PWI in the era of lynching, but they were not so far from one of the largest strongholds of white supremacy. But they survived and thrived, and the time has come to commemorate their triumph (not that we don't celebrate this every day).

What are you doing for Founder's Day? We will observe the sacrifices and achievements of our beloved founders at a church service and we will fellowship at a dinner following the service.

For me, Founder's Day is a day to reflect upon the greatness of our sisterhood, and mentally refresh for the goals that lie ahead. Sorors, what do you have planned for Founder's Day and what does it mean to you?

:) TRSimon

Founder's Day

Well I think about all the obstacles our founders had to overcome. We can only imagine how hard it was to form a sorority on a white campus. You know racism was even worse back then. But these 7 strong black women paved the way for an organization that is so grand and beautiful to all of us today. Nov. 14th will be my 8th anniversary into this illusterious and bluetiful sisterhood. I just think about our motto "Greater Service,Greater Progress." 79 yrs later we are still progressing bluetifully and strong..... :)

Since this is my first Founders Day, I am very excited to be celebrating the accomplishments of our 7 founders. My only regret is that I wish I could have met the last living founder, Vivian White Marbury.http://Members.BlackPlanet.com/pe/pe...undersline.gif

Sorors TRSimons, Kizzie22, NinjaPoodle, and. . .

Words just can't explain how I feel about Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. this sisterhood is so unique and alive. Who would have thought that an African American sorority in the year of 1922, on a predominately white campus, would have overcome the obstacles of Jim Crow, segregation, bigotry, and racism to celebrate 79 blue-ti-ful years. Thank God for our seven founders' determination, strength, intellect, wisdom, grace, and beauty to deal with the issues that in many cases still divide America. I really thank the founders for establishing the foundation for Sigma and I also thank sorors for continuing to strive for "Greater Service, Greater Progress!"

Sorors and friends embrace and enjoy our founder day celebrations and services! Happy Founder's Day Sorors!:)

Stay blessed,

Serioussigma22
