Texas A&M Informal Rush

Hello Everyone! I need my fellow aggies help on this one. I went through formal recruitment but got overwhelmed and withdrew halfway through. I am a freshman this year and already am regretting my decision. I saw a flyer for Gamma Phi's informal recruitment and was wondering how everything works. Does anyone know if any other chapters are going to have informal recruitment? or who didn't make total? I would love to join a sorority but my chances are now extremely low. Please help me out!

Talk to your Greek Life office. They should be able to answer those questions.

I am sorry to hear that your recruitment didn’t go as planned, but I do remember how stressful it was for my daughter to go through A&M rush a few years ago. This is what she has told me about informal recruitment:

Only houses that are not yet at total can participate and so far she only knows of Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Delta Pi holding events. My daughter has some good friends at Gamma Phi and loves these girls. They had a very successful recruitment and according to them, they are looking to make total this fall. She does not have any friends in AD Pi but from what she understands they are in a rebuilding mode. Every member she has met there is very sweet and involved. She suggests you check both groups out.

If you are talking about spring informal recruitment, there will probably be more sororities participating due to graduating seniors BUT you must have close friends in order to be invited to their events. They are generally not publicized. I remember my daughter’s sorority, Delta Gamma, taking some girls last spring (or was it the year before? ) but these girls generally had been invited to hang out at the house and meet other members in the prior semester. Their friendships just naturally led to their being chosen to join. So unless you have or expect to have many friends in various sororities by spring, your best bet may be to try informal this fall. I suggest you start becoming involved as soon as possible in campus organizations that will expose you to new friendships. Good luck to you!

This, this, this. Sororities want people who are living their college lives, not sitting around passively waiting to be "picked" for COB.
