Hello!!

New to the site looking for a great community based sorority- why? i dont have a bachelors degree, only an assoc. degree, so i dont think i can qualify for any other but a community based org.

I have had a VERY bad experience with a community based sorority before, I dont want to name names, but their motto was/is "Sisterhood through Motherhood" and based out of Memphis, TN. some of the ladies really did understand the meaning of Sisterhood, but the majority were horrid!!!

if you'd like details, Ill gladly share them on private messages.

So, that is why I am here...and to meet some really nice ladies!!!

>>There are lots of threads about these types of organizations. Use the search function.

>>If you had an unpleasant experience with an organization, it's best not to bash them publicly (as least here). There are people who are very happy members of every organization.

Good luck with your search. Even if you don't find a sorority to meet your needs, there are many other organizations out there which offer opportunities for members to bond and do things together. It all depends on what you are looking for in a group.

Also, posting the organization's motto is, in fact, "naming names."

I didnt mean to come off as being bashing or anything like that..and i apologize if I did come off that way....
Again, some of the ladies of that org are great, but the majority are not- all I wanted was a real, true sisterhood where i can participate in my community, give back, make friends(sisters) and be apart of something wonderful....

I would start my own, but I know how hard that is to do..lol

You apologize, yet you insult them again. SMH.

And she's met most if not all of the women in that sorority?

I am quite fond of MTSU but I don't know anything about this sorority. I'll have to ask around and see what's up with them. I wonder if they allow dual membership and some of their members are in other sororities. If that's the case, I may have met some of these women.

ETA: They have a chapter in Warner Robins. Small world. http://sbxsororityinc.com/news.html

Again, I dont want to bash these ladies in any way shape or form, and through retreats and things we have had, i haev met about 90% of the ladies in this sorority- I just came here looking for another route as I have so much to offer and I know I can be an asset to another open, accepting orginization, thats all.

I did recieve some info from someone and I thank you for that!

Again, any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

My advice would be to edit your initial post and any following that mention anything negative. Things stay on here forever. And maybe if you do, the people who quoted you will edit theirs as well.

There's a better chance that hell will freeze over before the ppl who quoted will edit their quotes.

DrPhil 09-01-2010 08:13 AM

Maybe they will edit if she edits.

Her post makes her look stupid. It doesn't reflect poorly on that sorority.

The good thing about this thread is that I had never heard of the sorority and now I know more about them.
