UNLV Recruitment

Hi all!

I have been browsing this forum for a while and it's really great. I have searched and probably read every thread that even mentions UNLV.. ha. I have just started school there and their recruitment is at the end of September. I am super excited, they had booths out yesterday and had an informal meet and greet type thing. Everyone seem so nice which made me even more exited for recruitment. Anyway, I know that UNLV is not in the category of "must have recs" but I was curious if anyone knew how competitive recruitment is? There are only six sororities on campus which makes me feel like it may be tough but at the same time I have read other places that Greek life isn't huge on campus, even though I feel like I have tons of Greeks in my classes. Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

It may seem like tons because you're thinking about it. Same as when you get a new car and all of a sudden you see that model everywhere on the road. :)

Don't worry about how competitive it is. Go in with a smile on your face, be nice to everyone you meet, read the posts here about conversation, etc. And let us know how it's going! I especially love to read the stories from less traditional schools.

With EVERY sorority girl wearing her letters every day (which is a no-brainer with a slightly deferred recruitment) it is going to seem like a lot!

I know several girls who went through UNLV recruitment in recent years. They knew no one in sororities and did not have recs to any of the sororities. They learned about recruitment from from friends they met in classes.

Based on what they've shared with me I gather that it's not competitive at all. In the end most received bids. One gal dropped out of recruitment because she felt that it wasn't really for her and she didn't think she could afford it. If you go in without expectations and be yourself, you may just find a home in one of them.

I'd be very curious to hear your story, if you decide to share it. I love the thrill and excitement of cutthroat SEC recruitment, but I like hearing stories from schools that I am (somewhat) familiar with too.

Thanks for all the input! I will definitely post my story, whether or not I make it. I know how much I love reading recruitment stories, I figure other people do too. I already have my code name theme picked out. Hopefully no one uses it by then. I will probably post it after bid day since everyone knows which school I'm at, but I'm thinking that I will actually write it each night so it is more objective.

It's kind of weird they say recruitment is three days, but there is also orientation the day before and then bid day is the day after, so it seems more like four to me. *shrug* Either way I can't wait! Everyone I've talked to keeps talking about how much they loved recruitment.
