Wake Forest Pi Phi's
Anybody else out there steamed about how Pi Phi national handled this? They didn't involve parents, and totally rebuffed efforts by the university to work out a plan. They just revoked the charter, and won't give any examples of any specific acts that they considered objectionable. The offenses at Wake were nowhere near what happened at their chapters at other schools, namely Miami U and Ohio U. The girls who just initiated can not join any other NPC group - they really got the short end of the stick. No dues refunds or anything. No responses to letters from parents. No way to treat a sister!!

Not sure what you mean about involving parents. What role should they have as NON-members of the organization? |
I'm thinking this thread should be moved to the Pi Phi forum at the very least.

The majority of parents are not members of the sorority or the chapter. Therefore, it's really none of their business.
I have never, over 25 years, heard of parents being notified or otherwise involved by a fraternity or sorority regarding chapter discipline or revocation. |
I can understand, if a parent paid the dues, that she would want to know why they weren't going to get any product in return for that money.
But as for bringing it up here...I don't see the point. |

Have some faith in your daughters and let them handle things if they want some answers. Also, make sure you have the entire story.

I think parent's have a right to be part of problems that come up in sorority or fraternity affairs but not other organizations. If you don't like a chapter or the things they do be happy you aren't part of it nont go around bashing them. I am sure though whatever the chapter did was worth losing the charter bc that is like a step 10 decision. You normally get fines or probation. The girls are a colony aren't they? All the guys I know that lost the charter still had the same number so they started over as a colony and regained status after 3 or 4 years.
