I know we will all be watching but if you have time .... do more than watch- write! If you feel strong about the show - write and voice your opinions - maybe if they get a tons of letters- positive letters about greek life- they will read them on the air like 60 minutes. I don't know - just a thought!

Well I stayed awake and watched this program! Does anyone have their E-m address? This group K_C_L was and is not anypart of a National Organization, you would hardly know it by the presentation.

The date rape drug and fire episodes are no different than any other comunity in this country.
They make the Greek organizations and the schools be at fault for every thing. The young people who go to these schools also have a responsibilies also! We in the Greek Community take the fall for a lot of things and I for one am damn tired of it. Do they write about all the good we do? NO NO NO!

You are absolutely right. I have to give props to my man Dan's little ending speech where he said these students need to use the CAUTION and COMMON SENSE that if they weren't smart enough to have, they wouldn't have been admitted to college in the first place.

Yeah i have to agree with Billy, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Dan Rather did mention some stuff about responsibility for students at the end of the presentation but I don't think 48 hours placed the blame correctly.

Yes that story about k_c_l was terrible. Not only were those guys the biggest losers and complete imbeciles, they didn't accept the responsibility of their actions. That society should be destroyed and every member should be expelled. 27 shots?! That is complete stupidity! I was hoping they would be punished much more severely than what they got.

The fire story....where's the rez association and t.a's when all this is going on? They should have taken a lot of flak for their non presence when this alarm was being pulled. At my school their was an evacuation everytime the alarm went off, so if pranksters pulled it there was serious repercussions to face.

The girl who died from GHB was a tragic story, but c'mon, what are you doing going to a house of a 33 yr. old?

It seems society is getting dumber, many if not all of these cases could have been prevented with common sense.

I'm a Resident Counselor, and I can only speak for my university's fire and evacuation methods. Most residential counselors or assistants are told to get themselves out of the danger first. Some are trained in the PROPER way to get residents out of a burning room, etc., but this isn't standard. One would hope that college students are smart enough to get themselves out of a situation. I didn't see 48 Hours, so I'm not sure which school fire was featured. It's rather unfair to put the blame of students not heeding warnings about fire alarms on residential counselors and assistants. It's a tragedy, but not one that can be blamed on the "negligence" of residential assistants.

Ya i saw that last night too. He kept bringing up that it was the Fraternity and Sororities fault cause they always pulled the alarms. Probably more like the drunk freshmen who thought it would be funny to pull it. Another thing that pissed me off was that they were saying that KCL is a fraternity...its not, its an off-campus organization. I mean they don't even have greek letters in their name. It just sucks they put the fraternity label on a bunch of guys who are in a group that aren't an actual fraternity. And the TKE thing kinda confused me...ok the kid said that the TKE's called him to their place during "pledge week" to answer questions about the fraternity. So if he wasn't a pledge then how could it be called pledge week...its rush week. And secondly...if the kid was rushing then how could they say it was hazing...he isn't even a pledge let alone being extended a bid?!?!?!?! That whole thing confused me and seemed kinda sketchy to me. 48 hours needed to ge ttheir terms right.

The segment on campus fires was political in nature. There is federal legislature on the fringe of going through the houses-something to the effect of REQUIRING all institutions who are eligible to receive federal funding to install and maintain sprinkler systems. I believe this includes off-campus housing, such as fraternity houses. I apologize for not having full details, I just recall reading about this a few weeks ago.
