Star Sorority Sisters

I love this. :D

 @ the only NPHCer being an honorary AKA (by the name of Alicia Keys)

Oh well. Who else did they miss, NPHC and otherwise? :)

This is the worst website ever. (navigation-wise)

I say that every day that msn tells me there's a cool celeb "article" on that website.

This "article" was just a matter of clicking the arrows, though. :)

Seriously, they couldn't get a better AXO rep than freaking Danity Kane girl? WTF? I would have preferred Condolleezza!

DrPhil 08-24-2010 10:16 AM

I would've preferred Condoleeza.

Perhaps they wanted the "fun" of Danity Kane rather than the often trashed politics of someone from the Bush administration?

Who else did these folks leave out? :) I'm trying to think of NPHCers that the mainstream celeb media cares about.

Yeah.

Darn...that's it? LOL.

I am really trying to think of MAINSTREAM celebs here.... and so few are college educated AND mainstream.

Is Hill Harper mainstream?

Is Rudy Huxtable still relevant?

My Soror hates it when people call her Rudy. :)

I say Harper and Pulliam are relevant to us and I'm going to make them relevant to the mainstream. :) Would this be a good time to continue to dispel the Morris Chestnutt is a Sigma myth? :p

Senusret I 08-24-2010 10:33 AM

RUDY is lucky anyone calls her at all lol

DrPhil 08-24-2010 10:34 AM

:(

Tyler Perry saved her career.

GTAlphaPhi 08-24-2010 10:38 AM

Jada Pinkett Smith is also honorary.

There's no excuse for not mentioning well-known entertainers (for these examples, just personalities of the stage, screen, and soundwaves, since that's who the article seems to be focusing on) who actually joined their respective NHPC groups during college.

Alpha Kappa Alpha
Phylicia Rashad
Wanda Sykes
Star Jones

Delta Sigma Theta
Keshia Knight Pulliam
Natalie Cole
Roberta Flack

Zeta Phi Beta
Sarah Vaughn

Who doesn't know who these people are?!?

edit: Looks like everyone beat me to it with Keshia Knight Pulliam. I don't care how long the Cosby Show has been off the air -- I will always think Phylicia Rashad is relevant!

The world of celebrity often boils down to being pretty and popular, so it's no wonder that many famous ladies out there started out as sorority girls. And as you freshman girls decide whether to rush or not this fall, keep in mind that education may come and go, but pledging a sorority is forever. Or something.
