The "O"
So I noticed that UF does an "O" for their hand sign and at USF we do an alpha love, where we use our index fingers to make an A and then a heart with our other fingers. Which one is more widely known? It seems like more AOII chapters do the Alpha love, but I like the Omicron hand sign more because no other NPC sorority has "omicron" in its name. Thoughts? Opinions?

Well this isn't what I thought your post was going to be about! Hahahahaha!
Seriously though, back in the day we didn't do hand signs, and I don't care for them. Arkansas does the one you described with the Alpha Love thingy. |
I had to go look at what you were talking about. The "O" looks weird and doesn't really look like anything. I'm not a huge fan of any hand signs, but if you have to do one, the A-love one is cuter. If you wanted to capitalize on the O, you could modify the A-love handsign and make the heart look more round like an O, I guess. I'm glad that so far not many chapters have had their members doing these. :p

The topic of hand signs came up last year at Convention, and we are encourage to halt the use of them. I think Katherine can explain it better than I can, but in general hand signs are not a part of our heritage. Out of respect to those groups who use such signs as an integral part of their organization I wish our collegians would refrain from using hand signs.
