RUSH 2010--- LSU
We start the Ice Water round tomorrow and I'm so excited, I really hope that I find a good fit in a sorority. I'm going shopping with my Gamma Chi! I really like her, she's so peppy, it's inspiring. So, I wanted to tell everyone how things are going this rush week and discuss all of my experiences. This is just an opening post for that! I love my dress for tomorrow, i have these adorable flats that match my A-line Nine West dress PERFECTLY. They were such a lucky find.
I don't have recs for two of the sororities, so I'm not expecting to get past Ice Water for them, but hey, you never know! I'm going to my three of my hopefuls and my legacy, "silver", tomorrow, so I'm wearing the really cute dress. Last words of wisdom anyone? |
Good Luck!

Thanks guys!
Can't wait for football season! Geaux Tigers! |
I know you're saying you have "hopefuls" but make sure you're keeping an open mind.
|
Always do! I'm not one to close off an opportunity for greatness ;)

OK, God smiled upon me today! I'm having a GREAT hair, skin, etc. day! I'm so excited and nervous though, I feel sick... My Gamma Chi just told me to "breathe, and the girls in the houses are just as nervous..." I guess that makes sense, but I'm so glad I look good today. haha. (at the risk of sounding pompous)
Let y'all know how it goes! hopefully I wont be one of the 120 or so that have to be "released" :( |
ha ha. i think we have all had days when we were thankful that everything seemed to click and our hair cooperated-good for you!!

I'm wondering what you can do to compensate at parties at houses where you don't have recs. Obviously, you want people to remember you and get to know you at every house, but perhaps in those few that you don't have a rec for, try to talk about some stuff that really lets people understand who you are as a person and how others perceive you.
For example, let's say you voluntarily tutored fellow students in Spanish, after school with one of the teachers and a few other students. Your teacher was very impressed because the kids you directly tutored raised their test scores an average of an entire letter grade. There's a way to tell such a story so that it doesn't sound like bragging. There is nothing wrong with talking about something like that, because it shows that you work well with others, can work under authority, on a team, and take the lead when necessary. Essentially, share a true story that someone writing a rec might share. |
Good luck, MollyM!
It's so fun being on campus during LSU Sorority Recruitment. I can completely feel the energy in the air despite running Freshman Orientation all day for those students registering last minute. My cohort member is one of the new GAs for Greek Affairs, and frankly, I'm a little jealous she gets to manage recruitment. :P GEAUX TIGERS! Keep us all posted! |
Lucky girl! haha. I bet its fun to manage all of us, and yea I'm still so excited waiting to see how things turn out. =)
Today was the last day for Ice Water, I think it turned out really well. My legacy was the one that I was actually the happiest with, but the "green" house was a close second. I rated all the houses I went to by numbers, and that one was a 9/10! I just felt so at home in both of those houses! In my second to last house, I'll call it "purple", the girls I talked to and I had the longest conversation about food because we were all starving! lol But, hey, there were no awkward points! My top houses were: Silver 10/10 Green 9/10 Burgandy 8/10 Blue 8/10 Pink 7/10 Purple 7/10 White 7/10 And my "alternates" or bottom three: Red 6/10 Baby Blue 6/10 Yellow 3/10 Yellow has such a low score because that was the only house where I was just really uncomfortable. It's really funny because I was looking forward to that house, maybe it was just the girls I talked to. My roommate loved Yellow. I think I know who my Gamma Chi is in! I was talking to a girl at White about what her favorite social was, and she talked about their christmas party, and I remember my Gamma Chi talked about the exact same kind of christmas party! cowinkidink? Maybe, maybe not. I really enjoyed my conversations with most of the girls at the other houses, and the ones that lower marks I didn't click with as well, or had an awkward moment or two. I loved all the songs and had to resist singing along! I know they are going to be stuck in my head forever! Thanks for all the well-wishing girls! I can't wait until bid day! I'm so psyched! |
molly, you might be right about your gamma chi but i have heard of gamma chis on certain campuses who purposely learned one song from every sorority on campus and would sing or hum them just to keep the pnms guessing! all part of the fun!
good luck tomorrow! |
I was a rho chi my senior year and we learned songs, symbols, etc to throw everyone off. We also had friends in most all houses so we chatted with actives while we were in the house during parties. Drove the PNMs nuts.
