A Tale of Two PNMs
 

Here's a story of two very different PNMs going through recruitment at a small, competitive, southern school.

Houses on campus:
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Phi Mu
Zeta Tau Alpha

Since this is a tale of two PNMs, the threads will be named after characters from A Tale of Two Cities. (Leave me alone; I'm a nerd.)
Sydney Carton
Lucie Manette
Charles Darnay
John Barsad
Alexandre Manette
Therese Defarge

Both PNMs (we'll call them Jane and Jill) went to the same high school and were friends, but not best friends. Each went into recruitment with her own dream of finding the perfect chapter.

After round one, Jane's favorite chapters were:
Therese
Alexandre
- She also liked Lucie, but not quite as much as Therese and Alexandre.

After round one, Jill's favorite chapters were:
Therese
Lucie
Sydney
Charles
- It should be noted that Jill did not dislike Alexandre and John, but did not like them as much as the others.

Round Two:

Jane got invites to:

Jane was a little disappointed to lose Alexandre, but overall very happy with her schedule. Jill was very disappointed to lose her original first picks, but she has a good head on her shoulders and knew that she couldn't be too upset about someone cutting her who only knew her for a few minutes.

During the second round, Jane got to know the Lucie and Sydney girls more and really liked them, though not as much as she liked Therese. She thought the Charles girls were "okay," but could not see herself at John.

Jill got to know the Sydney and Charles girls and was quickly able to call them her new #1 and #2. She does not think she could see herself at John, but she is willing to give them another look if they invite her back.

They can go to up to 4 parties for round three (and then only 2 for prefs)!

I love the codenames!! And I can't wait to hear the rest of the story!!

I'm kind of rushing this one (I'm sure no one minds) because I'm going to have a Bama story to post once that ends tomorrow and some UGA stories once that ends Monday... too much to juggle all at once! I still don't feel comfortable posting live... don't want to jinx it for anyone!

Jane was very sad to be cut from Therese, but she felt that being cut there really allowed her to open her eyes to other options. She LOVED both Lucie and Sydney today and would consider them to be pretty equal now. The only big difference is that she already knows members of Lucie and did not know much about Sydney prior to recruitment. She liked Charles just fine and would be okay with going back there. She does not see herself with John.

Jill was happy to have no cuts today. She still liked Sydney just a bit better than Charles, but would be happy with either. She, like Jane, does not see herself with John, but she would be okay with going back there to get to know them more.

Jane enjoyed both houses fairly equally. She left prefs knowing she would be happy at either house, but she ended up putting Lucie first, simply because it had been a favorite since the beginning and she already had a few friends in the house.

Jill was very surprised by her experience at prefs. She expected to feel more comfortable at Sydney than Charles, but it was actually the opposite! She really, really felt at home at Charles and just knew they were the right group for her. She would still be happy with Sydney if Charles doesn't come through...

Okay, I really wish Sydney were #1 for both only because - SYDNEY ROCKS! In the novel, I mean. . .

dgdramadog, I love your recruitment stories...... will they end up as sisters?...

Their rankings are only partial testament to why Sydney Carton is a depressed alcoholic (in A Tale of Two Cities, not on this campus).
