who would be able to view your information

Hi I was wondering if anyone know whether the information we put on the UPC application is available for viewing for everyone in each sorority, or just some of the officers within the sorority. Will all the active members be able to see my GPA/Transcript etc? Thanks!

It depends on how each chapter handles the applications and handles assigning people for recruitment.

It is entirely possible that they will see your GPA, but odds are they won't care, or won't be paying attention or memorizing that.

In general, everyone can see the official rush application (gpa, resume, etc) that you submitted. Some chapters do different things with that info than others and all have specific ways they use it during recruitment.

I disagree with Drolefille, depending on where you attend school, they are definitely paying attention to your GPA. After rush, I seriously doubt anyone will come up to you and quote your GPA to you, but it is, as a general rule, something that matters during recruitment.

Agreed. Just assume that actives will be able to see your application, since it's a possibility.

I can tell you at our chapter we look at the applications before recruitment and during recruitment. They are available for the every chapter member to look at. GPA for us is HUGE and we do not take any grade exceptions.

Some schools will verify your GPA and give the groups the one the university accepts. In other words, they leave out the non-academic grades for extra activities that some schools give in order to have everyone on a level playing field with regard to GPA.

Our school's greek life office verifies all GPA's.

The chapter I advise uses the information on the forms (and additional information provided by references) to promote PNM's prior to and during recruitment. Only recruitment officers/personnel see the actual GPA's. Since we only promote PNM's who have grades, there is not a need for the entire chapter to see GPA's, in my opinion, so I dont allow that.

We do not accept/promote PNM's who do not meet our GPA requirements.

Slight lane swerve- do any chapters do that? It seems like it would make everything a lot messier for the people voting if they didn't have that baseline.

Without getting into any private MS info, I would venture to guess that all groups have some method of imparting critical PNM info to their members.

I think she meant the grade exception part. Some chapters/groups do take grade exceptions but it's usually not done without a very good reason.

Yes, that is what I meant.

I want to clarify. I don't think the average member cares about your GPA. The officers, the recruitment chair, and whoever is keeping track of people by hand or on the computer? Oh yeah they know. And if you're a grade risk you're highlighted. You might also be highlighted if you're a 4.+ but the average chapter member probably neither retains nor cares what your individual GPA is.
