Virgin Mobile opinions?
I am strongly considering getting Virgin Mobile as my new phone service, now that they do "plans" instead of just pre-paid...
I've read product reviews online but I don't put too much faith in them since you never know if it's a disgruntled employee or who knows what else posting those to change the overall ratings. Does anyone here have a Virgin Mobile plan? If so, what is your opinion of the coverage (it's on the Sprint Network so I assume it's about the same?), the customer service, ETC.? Thanks!! |
I used to have it, the customer service was excellent! They have easy incentive programs were you can free minutes by looking at ads on your phone, easy to do when you're waiting for class to start or sitting around bored. They had great ring tones and other stuff too. The coverage was okay, the only place I didn't get coverage was at my house, which was kind of a problem and why I switched. It was great service everywhere else though!
Plus now they have a BlackBerry with unlimited everything for like $60 a month. I really want a BlackBerry. I am probably going to switch back to them around Christmas time when i can afford to buy a $300 phone. |
Can't say much about their customer service, but their network is actually Sprint.

It's because they are covered by the Sprint network that I decided not to go with them. I've never heard anything good about Sprint's coverage except just one message here and it was a spammer. I looked at the VM coverage map and it didn't look promising. You are basically covered on all major freeways (where I live). Anywhere outside that is a dead zone.

Fiance had Virgin Mobile and it was awful. His text messages would randomly stop working because he would get these spam texts that would automatically charge him $10, which then used up the money on his plan (it was prepaid). He called to report it to VM and said they couldn't do anything about it. Also, every phone he had with them was a piece of crap. Oh and when he switched to AT&T it took them a week to switch over his number even though they are required to do that by law in two days.
I say run away fast. |
Thanks everyone for your input!
