Name Tags
I hate to make two new threads back to back but these are the two questions I have been thinking about a lot and would love to hear opinions! I have searched the forum for a thread about this and could not find anything but if you know of one just point me in that direction!
I got a detailed letter/pamphlet in the mail today about rush at the large ACC school I will be attending this fall. One part says that each PNM needs to provide their own name tag for rush. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what the name tag should be like. Is it supposed to be just a name tag or is it a place to show a little about yourself? I would love to see pictures if you have any! |
Mine had my name in my favorite color (although do make sure it's not yellow- to hard to read!) and a backgroud picture of a favorite hobby (gardening). I just made it on Microsoft word and put it into one of those plastic cover things.
But I don't know the specifics for your school... you may want to call the Greek Life office and ask. |
The name tag is your chance to make yourself memorable and express yourself. Keep it tasteful, but have fun. I wouldn't put many literal pictures, and no words other than your name or other required information. I whole-heartedly encourage the use of glitter, glitter pens, glitter paint, feather trim, or pom pom trim. Just not all on the same name tag. :p Try to make your name really big and prominent so it is easily readable. Do not use any sororities exact colors, like if you want pink and green maybe throw in touches of another color. That part is not really a big deal unless the sorority has an unusual signature color combo.

I wish we got to make our own as PNMs!

Another idea might be to have it coordinate with whatever you are wearing.
Do put some effort into it, they are having you make them for a reason. If they didn't care everyones would be the same. Also it makes it easier for the actives to identify you. "Paige was the cute blond with the peacock feather nametag." |
Our rush nametags had the Greek alphabet running around the outside, and I thought that was cute.

When I was still in school, the Recruitment Councilors made name tags for their groups. There were always such creative ones. They were always made out of craft foam. Here are some of the ideas they had:
Gumball Machine (cute & colorful) Dresses (cut out of craft foam & covered with cute fabrics) High Heels Palm Trees Beach Balls Music Notes Umbrellas Rainbows Flip Flops Caterpillars Butterflies Flowers Guitars Seahorses Birdhouses |
I still remember (this shows how good it was) the girl named Lucy going through rush whose nametag was Lucy from Peanuts. :)
Make it something that makes YOU stand out - not necessarily your favorite band or anything like that. If you're a 3 time state twirling champion, make it a baton...etc etc. |
Some more ideas (easy to make with foam board; get double-sided fabric tape so it won't hurt your clothing):
|
make sure that you put your first and last name on your name tag. there could be 4 callie m's- and if you all go by callie m. on your nametag the sorority members will(not can, but will) get you confused. if you have enrolled for recruitment under callie moore, then put that on your name tag. do not use a nickname-the sororities will have a hard time matching you up with the list they get from panhellenic, because you will appear on the panhellenic list with the name that you wrote down on your recruitment registration form.
