hello...hola...bonjour

hi! I'm Megan (-ahem- obviously), and I'm rushing this fall! Can't wait!

I'm super nervous actually, I come from a completely non-Greek family so my parents are a little skeptical, and I have no idea where I'm going to find rec letters (also, any tips on where to find a rec letter [I've completely exhausted all my contacts] would be lovely) but I am very excited to go through recruitment. I've been reading all the stickied threads which have been SO helpful, I feel so much more prepared than before. Can't wait! I love meeting new people so feel free to introduce yourselves and we can strike up a conversation. Any tips or hints for a better rush week are MUCH appreciated. :)

Hey Megan! It's awesome that you're the first one to go greek in your family -- I was too! As far as finding recs, the best thing you can do is ask everyone you know. You never know who was a sorority woman. Many people that you would never expect were greek! Check with coworkers, parents, friends, friends' parents, etc. Maybe have your friends ask around. Also, some sororities allow actives to write recs for a PNM, so long as that PNM is not going through recruitment for their chapter. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the advice! I had an active from one sorority write me one, and after I went through (literally) all of my contacts (and their contacts too...haha), I started contacting the local alumnae chapters, which has actually turned out better than I thought! Everyone's been so nice about it, which really surprised me. Which, in turn, is making me even more excited for recruitment. :) I get more and more excited every day!

Awesome! I'm glad it worked out so well for you! Make sure to keep us posted on your recruitment experience. :)

I would love to post a thread about my recruitment experience (I've been reading them and I'm already addicted :D) but I'm wondering if I've already shared too much information. I took my school name out of my original post for a little more anonymity, but is my name in my username revealing too much? I wouldn't have made it that if I had known I should have remained more anonymous. >.>

At your school (won't repeat it), there will probably be tons of Megans and probably several Megan Js. I wouldn't worry about it.

Now when you start talking about your class standing, hometown, major, etc. then it gets easier to figure out.

Ex: there might be like 10 Megan J's in recruitment but only one from YourHometown, USA.

So don't go putting that out there. lol.

Dang. I had planned on posting a thread with my life story, as well as my high school transcript. I guess I won't... :(

haha, kidding. I won't worry about it too much.
