Black Chicago-based sorority found in contempt of court

http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/2...071310.article

“It has become apparent to this court that the leadership of the organization has intentionally taken steps to frustrate this court’s order,” Cook County Judge Daniel Riley said, ordering that the organization’s records custodian be in court Wednesday and bring the group’s check register, minutes book and wire-transfer documents.

Wow, nice ambiguity (newspaper headline not your post). I was expecting this to be about some random semi-local group.

Mo' Kelly must be settin' out a hop now!:)

Seriously, this is a real problem in BGLOs across the board. Too often leadership is seen as an opportunity to set up one's own fiefdom, without a sense of accountability or transparency.

i thought the same as 33girl.

I do, too! I've been looking for a similar shade.

I don't know. I'm happy they are in St. Louis, but their dirty laundry has been put on front street since day one of the conference. I hate seeing this.

Of the financial malfeasance allegations I've been aware of among NPHC organizations over the past seven years, Sigma is the only organization which has dealt with their issues swiftly and severely. And I believe that's the reason that your fraternity hasn't been in the news to this level -- not because you kept it in house, but because you did the right thing the first time.

That's the lesson we could all stand to learn. But apparently no other org believes fire is hot.

Yep exactly. But I'm not talking about you and what you are doing. I never have an issue if it hits national news. It has been other news that has been coming out locally that the AKA's have been dealing with in St. Louis. The announcement of their conference here was followed by three articles concerning their issues they have been having here and not dealing with it swiftly. So if this was anywhere else, they would probably be getting less press than what they are getting here currently.

I know you weren't, I was just giving awkwardly-timed kudos. :)
