Hello!

Hi, my name's Jen. I'm 21 and I'm a design student at University of Arizona.
I am also a brother (yes, it's brother, no, I'm not confused) of Alpha Rho Chi, a co-ed, professional/social fraternity for architecture and the allied arts. This year I am worthy supervisor and rush director. While I do already have a few ideas for rush this year, I am very open to suggestions. Finding events which are somewhat inexpensive( I have a very limited budget this semester) and will be popular with both men and women are my two biggest obstacles. Thanks for any advice!

Do a search, there are lots of suggestions on this site. Welcome to GC. I don't remember seeing an Alpha Rho Chi here before, but we have lots of professional/social Greeks on GC.

People here have said it before, that events don't bring people in, people do. Whatever you do choose for your recruitment/rush events, make sure that there is plenty of time and space for one-on-one conversations. Talk to your current members and find out what made them interested in joining, and work around those ideas. Figure out what is special about your organization. Why do people choose yours over a purely social or gender-based fraternity or sorority?

Something that pops in my mind, since your org is for people in architecture, is having a lego-building activity. Separate people into groups of 3-5 people and have each one build something (either the same thing, or something different). It's fun, engaging, and encourages teamwork.

Also what comes to my mind is the fact that you are a professional fraternity right? Try asking the faculty if they can recommend anybody or spread the word for you.

Thank you all so much for the welcomes, as well as the ideas. Ree-Xi, I really like your idea about the lego building, I think I might be able to do something interesting with that. And Psi U MC Vito, that is a good idea as well, we actually did a little bit of that last year, but maybe we will try to capitalize on it this year!
