Hey

Hey I am going through Fall recruitment at Auburn and getting really excited about it. They require formally rec letters from alumni. I have already got a few but my friend suggested I try here to get some.

You'd be better off contacting your local alumnae panhellenic. After you exhaust all the women you and your family know.

Good luck to you this fall at Auburn. Your friend was trying to be helpful but really the best thing that you can do is network around people that know you. Ask:
-- your teachers
-- your friends' moms and older sisters
-- your mom's friends
-- ladies at church
-- ladies in your neighborhood

Will this require more work on your part? Yep. However, how much value is there in a rec by someone you found on the internet?

plus many on this forum consider it bad form to ask here.

Also, singlular sorority woman = alumna
Plural sorority women = alumnae

This will be important for you to know as you contact alumnae to write your recs. Some women are very particular about that.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Do you know how I go by finding the local alumnae panhellenic?

Mine has a website, maybe yours does too. You could try googling it -- like "Somewheresville Alumnae Panhellenic". If that doesn't work, you could try contacting the one for your closest major city and they can put you in contact with a closer one.
