Kappa Alpha Psi Hazing (WSU)
http://thesouthend.wayne.edu/index.p...nity_of_hazing
A former Wayne State student recently told WJBK-TV that he was the victim of hazing while at the university and almost died from the beatings. Eric Walker, a 21-year-old former student who was studying to become a doctor, wanted to join the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi. But he said he was the victim of the hazing for 32 straight days. He said dozens of fraternity members “kicked, punched and pummeled” him, according to the Fox 2 report. His injuries allegedly put him in the hospital for more than a week. Walker and his attorney, Dan Romano, said this fraternity has hazed students for years. According to the Fox 2 report, Wayne State Police Department Chief Anthony Holt said the university has suspended the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Holt was not immediately available for additional comments for The South End. |
Wow, this is almost 2 months old. Are you still mad at KAPsi because of the Howard University fiasco?

What happened at Howard? |

LOL. She's talking about PiKA at Howard.
The article was last updated in May. Does anyone know if anything has happened since then? |
I wasn't able to find any follow up on this, so maybe it's still going on (investigation).
The Pike colony at Howard is old news, like 4 years old news. Still have no clue how my posting this story on KAPsi @ Wayne has anything to do with Pikes @ HU. |

I'd hate to see what you call a screed. |

The point is, not a rant. |

Group of guys (who mostly wanted to be Kappas in the first place) thought they would do something "different" and petitioned Pike to become a colony. While Nellie, Byron, George, Myra, Oscar, an' 'nem all rolled in their graves, the boys became a colony while the campus at large wasn't welcoming of them (editorials in the campus paper against their presence due to racist activities of some of the chapters in the recent past). The Kappas are unexpectedly welcomed back to campus. (Some speculate that it's related to the mayor and his brother being Kappas in the sponsoring alumni chapter) The Pike colony fails. Several of the 44 recolonizing members of KAPsi were former Pikes. Several other former Pikes went on to become Kappas through alumni chapters. Privately, several Pikes told me they felt that the colonization policies were too stringent for a chapter to ever be able to succeed at Howard. This is not even including the loyalty issues among the colonizers. My own moral to this story is that I believe an NIC fraternity could work at Howard, but it would have to be one which was intentionally nonsectarian in its founding and made up of men who were not of the NPHC mold at all. |

LOL. PiKA2001, this is what the PiKA failure at HU has to (jokingly) do with a PiKA posting this months-old story about Kappa. |
