Continuing Education Courses
 

has anyone every taken continuing education courses?

I've mentioned the back and forth I'm going through about graduate school, and have thus put it off for another year. It just doesn't feel right.

I see ads for continuing education courses all the time and could very easily register for one. I'm interested in SO many things, and thought a one-time class (or i guess where they meet over a few sessions) could give me some great exposure.

Also, in your experience, how legitimate is being "certified" from one of these courses? I was considering taking a teaching assistant certification course, as a fallback (i currently work with preschoolers, so working in a classroom wouldn't be new). Do these certifications mean much? Is it something you can put on a resume without being laughed at?

I have to take continuing legal education classes (CLE), so many hours every year.

Some of the certificates you can get, e.g., a mediation certificate can be a pretty big deal.
