Anyone been to, going to Ecuador?
 

I have a break coming up and I am setting my sights on Ecuador. I found a bartender there who puts out a weekly online newsletter of things he hears about over the bar from poeple that live and work there in tourism. One of the things it mentions is a three week trip to the Galapagos doing conservation work and exploring the islands..

Has anyone been to Ecuador? How easy is it to get around with limited Spanish? Are the Galapagos worth the money?

I am posting on the travel forums but wanted to see if anyone here has any experience there..

I have been to Ecuador several times and I would not reccommend it. There just isn't that much to do. the country is small and Quito is the only truly large/metropolitan area and it is quite crowded. You may wish to visit the jungles but I cannot think of a lot that it has going for it.
